On August 8, 2026, join us for a nationwide day of civic action in honor of the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Leagues and partners will lead hundreds of activations across the country centered on increasing voter engagement, turnout, and education, with particular emphasis on young voters and community partnerships. Are you concerned by statements about potential election fraud in the upcoming midterm elections? Do you worry that your vote will be counted accurately? Do you want to explain to your friends and family why voting is secure? The Monroe County Board of Elections (BOE) is responsible for administering elections in Monroe County. The BOE is administered by two Commissioners of Elections, Peter Elder (Republican Commissioner) and Jackie Ortiz (Democratic Commissioner). At this in-person forum, the two Commissioners will explain the processes that make our votes secure and accurate. They will answer questions from the audience.
